How it works

Working on the Rig

Every DFAB cabin is built in our Thane yard through the same 12 inspected stages, then craned onto site ready to use.

Run sheet

From raw steel to a finished cabin in 12 stages.

Every cabin moves through the same inspected sequence in our yard, so quality doesn’t depend on luck.

  1. 01

    Order confirmed

Once we receive your official order, your project enters our production schedule.

  2. 02

    Layout approval

Our engineers prepare layout options and refine them with you until you sign off.

  3. 03

    Material cutting

Steel sections and sheets are cut precisely to the approved layout.

  4. 04

    Structure fabrication

The frame is fabricated, the backbone that decides how long your cabin lasts.

  5. 05

    Welding & waterproofing

Joints are welded and the shell is sealed so the cabin performs in every season.

  6. 06

    Chemical cleaning & primer

Surfaces are chemically cleaned, then primed to protect against corrosion.

  7. 07

    Concealed wiring

Electrical wiring is routed inside the walls and tested circuit by circuit.

  8. 08

    Insulation & panelling

Thermal insulation goes in, followed by internal panels for a clean finish.

  9. 09

    Lights, AC & sockets

Lighting, air-conditioning points and sockets are fitted to your plan.

  10. 10

    Exterior painting

The outer body is painted in your approved colour scheme.

  11. 11

    Finishing & cleaning

Interiors are finished and deep-cleaned so the cabin arrives ready to use.

  12. 12

    Inspection & dispatch

Engineers inspect every detail before the cabin is dispatched to your site.

Finished DFAB porta cabin on site

Yard to site

A two-storey office, craned in by evening.

  1. 01

    Plinths set

The site is levelled and precast plinths are placed under every corner and mid-point of the frame.

  2. 02

    Ground floor craned in

Finished modules arrive on a trailer and are lifted straight onto the plinths, side by side.

  3. 03

    Upper floor stacked

The frame carries a second storey, so upper modules are set directly on the corner castings below.

  4. 04

    Stair & walkway

An external steel stair and guarded walkway give the upper floor its own entrance.

  5. 05

    Power on

Wiring was fitted and tested in our yard, so once the supply is connected the office is ready that evening.

Inside the wall

Seven layers between your team and the weather.

Scroll to take a DFAB wall apart. Every layer is fitted in our Thane yard, so nothing is left to be finished on site.

  1. 01
    Profiled steel sheet

Weather skin, painted in your colour. Ribs add stiffness and shed rain.

  2. 02
    Welded steel frame

Posts, rails and studs carry the cabin when it is lifted, and a second storey when stacked.

  3. 03
    PUF insulation

Rigid polyurethane foam keeps heat out in summer and cuts outside noise.

  4. 04
    Concealed wiring

Conduits, switch and socket boxes run inside the wall and are tested before dispatch.

  5. 05
    Vapour barrier

Stops moisture reaching the insulation from inside the room.

  6. 06
    Interior panel

Clean, washable finish with switch plates and skirting fitted.

  7. 07
    Floor build-up

Ply deck on the steel base, finished in vinyl or tiles.
